It is a private 36-hole golf club in Springfield, New Jersey, about twenty miles west of New York City, founded in 1895 by Louis Keller. 

Seven US Opens, two PGA Championships, and two US Women's Opens have been held at the club.

A.W. Tillinghast planned and built the Lower and Upper Courses between 1918 and 1922.

Chester H. Kirk planned and built the clubhouse in 1909.Baltusrol Golf Club is both a National and New Jersey Historic Site.

The Baltusrol Golf Institute, which provides golf instruction and other programmes, is housed inside the club.
